What is SOFTLINKS! and how will it help me?
SOFTLINKS is a Networking Community for Professionals working in any capacity and role related to Software development in any Industry. Our goal is to provide our members with the tools that will help them with Industry Specific Targeted Niche Networking. These tools not only help our members achieve their professional and business goals but will become instrumental in achieving their personal goals such as career advancement within their current companies, educational advancement and development of social and networking skills as well.
SOFTLINKS is determined to change the concept behind Professional Networking i.e. by providing our members with the tools to grow professionally and personally through targeted networking within their own niche. As a matter of fact this will not only help our members grow individually; it will help their companies or organizations grow as well.
As our members gain valuable experience in Global Business Tactics, Corporate Ethics, Business Development, Social and Networking skills, by not only LINKING UP! with our members but also getting help from their mentors, the companies will start seeing their productivity enhance and bottom lines moving higher and higher. After all the upward spiral of growth for any company starts from their employees and individual work force - the first step!

SOFTLINKS website seems very straight forward and simple. It doesn't really have a feel for an upscale graphic intense website, does that have something to do with SOFTLINKS! concept?
We will be short and simple in answering this - just like our website :-)
Once we started working on the idea of an "Industry Specific Targeted Niche Networking Tool", we wanted to follow one simple rule i.e. "KEEP IT SIMPLE!" and that is what you see at "www.mysoftlinks.com". It is prudent in the professional world to be straight and simple. Not only the History proves it but looking at all the successful professionals around us, we see one thing in common - these guys were focused, hardworking, straight and simple. SOFTLINKS follows the same principles. The simplistic appearance of the website is to keep the focus on what we want to help our members achieve. We are not in the business of selling products, our goal is simple: HELP SOFTWARE PROFESSIONAL LINKUP! WITH OTHER PROFESSIONALS and OPPORTUNITIES within minimum time and least amount of hassle. Simplicity is the key to that!
Now, we all know there is always room for improvement and of course, we will keep improving as our relationship with our members grow. So your FEED BACK is and will always be instrumental in shaping SOFTLINKS - THE NEXT GENERATION NO HASSLE NETWORKING CONCEPT.
Message Center
Message Center can only be accessed through SOFTLINKS Member's Home page. Login or Join SoftLinks to view your message center. The message center contains links to the Member's incoming and out going communications. If the member posts an opportunity, the message center helps other SOFTLINKS members respond to that opportunity. LINKUP! requests, Mentor Requests, Questions asked by other SOFTLINKS members will be displayed in the Message Center section.
In order to make it easier for the members to communicate, manage and archive incoming and out going messages, the Message Center is divided into four main links as follows:
:: My Pending Actions: This section displays all pending messages and actions items for the member. The member will have the option to view the sender's profile or click on the message subject to view and take action on the message e.g. Member "A" sends a LINKUP! request to member "B". Member "B" will get an email message from SOFTLINKS with links to take action on that request or ignore that request. The same request can also be accessed through the Message Center once the member logs into the SOFTLINKS. An alert with the "pending action message" will be displayed to the member on the "Member Home" Page as well.
:: Send Pending Actions: This section of the message center displays all pending request sent by the viewing members to all other members of SOFTLINKS community. Members can view requests sent for the opportunities, LINKUP! requests sent to other members etc. This section helps members track all the pending requests sent. The requests can be archived by clicking on the Archive Action in SOFTLINKS Message Center. Members can also view SOFTLINKS Profile for the member the request was sent to. An unsaid rule to Professional Networking is that if a member does not response to your request, they probably don't want to be contacted again!
:: Received & Resolved: The section displays all messages received by the members and are resolved or an action has been taken by the viewing member. SOFTLINKS members can archive these messages by clicking on the Archive action in the SOFTLINKS Message Center. SOFTLINKS wants to help its members in tracking and be able to refer to the actions they took on the incoming messages or requests. This section helps you do just that
:: Responses Received: One of the main advantages for professional networking and goal behind SOFTLINKS is for our members to be able to get professional guidance from other SOFTLINKS Members. We also understand once you "Ask A Question" to a colleague, you probably need to refer back to it at some stage. This section displays all responses received by our members in reply to their requests. The Software industry in particular and professional environments in general often require guidance for us to advance in our careers and keeping a record of all the messages received will help us keep a record of all the worthy advice we receive. Of course, if SOFTLINKS members don't want to keep the message, they can always click on the Archive action in SOFTLINKS Message Center.
In general, once a SOFTLINKS members, receives a request from another member, they are always notified through email about it. The email contains links to the actions you can take on that request as well as link to the profile of the individual sending this request. SOFTLINKS allows all members to be able to Ask Questions to other SOFTLINKS members. However, to keep unwanted communication by the receiving members, SOFTLINKS members can perform other actions only once they are LINKED to the intended recipient.
How do I change my account details after I have joined SOFTLINKS?
Once "Logged In", the members have numerous options, one of the options is "Account Administration" on the top left hand corner of the page. Clicking on the links navigates the member to the Account Details Management or Account Administration page. Remember members cannot change their username (email), First and Last names. You can edit any thing except that.
What are SOFTLINKS! Opportunities, how do I post opportunities and how does Opportunity LINKUP! works?
Opportunities are any posting that could benefit our members in any way, B2B Strategic Partnerships, Job Posting, Consulting Offers Start-Up Executive Management Team LINKUP! etc. To post an Opportunity click on the "Post Opportunity" link and fill out the appropriate details.
To LINKUP! with an opportunity, search opportunities from the Member Home page. Once previewing the opportunity click on the LINKUP! link. You will be give an option to write a note to the Opportunity Poster. This will along with "LINKINGUP!" the member with the sender's note to the SOFTLINKS! opportunity poster. The note indicates the sender's interest in the opportunity, and you will not be able to send another note to the poster, please take a minute to think what you need to write. The poster upon receipt of the note will either have an option to reply back to the sender or ignore the request. The sender, however, will stay LINKED! with the opportunity.
To "Manage Opportunities", click on the Manage Opportunity Link from the "Member Home" page, you can see your LINKED! opportunities and all the opportunities you have poster. Use the appropriate action tools to manage your opportunities.

SOFTLINKS! helps its members LINKUP! with their industry i.e. Targeted Niche Networking. What is the simplest and fastest way to achieve that?
The easiest way to LINKUP! with other professionals in your industry is to click on the "My Industry Links". View their profiles and interact accordingly. Click on "Industry Opportunities" to view and LINKUP! with your industry opportunities.
SoftLinks Mentor
The word mentor means "A wise and trusted counselor or teacher".
At various stages in our careers we find ourselves looking for someone who could
help us understand and solve issues we have not experienced before. "SoftLinks Mentor"
is a person, accomplished in their profession and industry and is or has been where
we want to go (e.g. a programmer trying to or advance into a management position
may want a manager or director to help them achieve their career goal). Being a
SoftLinks member you would be a able to set their professional advancement goals.
As a "SoftLinks Mentor" you want to and are ready to help others achieve their goals. A SoftLinks Mentor is the "Wise and Trusted Professional in their industry".
So if you see a member with

We are always learning and more we want to accomplish the more we need to understand
people around us. With growth, come responsibilities and the the most critical one,
of course is the "Leadership Responsibility". By mentoring others, you not only
help them but you will help yourself become a better leader (by understanding them)
and "LinkUp" with people who will makeup your personal team in the industry. Because
requested you to mentor them they will believe in you (provided you do it right),
most of all you will "Grow once they Grow".
SoftLinks Mentor process
Any SoftLinks member can request to be mentored by another SoftLinks Member. A SoftLinks
Mentor can only mentor one professional at a time. SoftLinks will provide communication
between a mentoree and their mentor. SoftLinks members can
identify a "SoftLinks
Mentor" through the designated logo next to their name. Only SoftLinks Mentors can
view their mentorees and vice versa.
